Just a stone’s throw away from our previous wild camp behind the San Javier mission, our journey took an unexpected turn as we stumbled upon inviting watering holes. Along the way, we crossed paths with a spirited Finnish cyclist, pedaling the length of Baja on his trusty bike. Captivated by the allure of the cool water on a warm day, we unanimously decided to halt our progress and indulge in a refreshing dip.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, we found ourselves nestled in a rocky clearing, drifting off to sleep amidst the symphony of a lively frog chorus under a diamond-studded sky with shooting stars and zero light pollution. Reflecting on the day’s adventures, we couldn’t help but marvel at the magic of this place—a destination I’d revisit in a heartbeat, time and time again.
