We started a fresh journey as we crossed the US border and began exploring the beauty of the Baja, where chance encounters transformed strangers into newfound friends in the blink of an eye. After resupplying in San Felipe, our adventure took an unexpected turn when a conversation with an ex-motorcycle racer in a supermarket led us to an enchanting stay in Percebu, just half an hour south of San Felipe.
Here, amid abandoned palapas, we discovered a resort story of unfinished dreams, based on an Italian chap attempting to build some boutique accommodation until running into legal problems with the land owners.
Consequently, we found the essence of travel—connecting with a warm group of locals, and then immersing ourselves in the desert wilderness, and sleeping under a canopy of stars. It’s always the random and serendipitous moments that make a journey extraordinary.
