From Workshop to Wilderness | The First Test

After months of grit, grease, and heart, our beloved Rhino, the UK-spec Hilux, is finally expedition-ready. Wrapped, dialled in, and rolling out of Grand Junction, Colorado, we leave the workshop behind and step into the wild, reclaiming the rhythm of life on our own terms. From wild camping beneath alpine peaks near Telluride to catching golden hour and a rainbow welcome in Oro Grande, we savour the kind of freedom that only comes with moving slowly and intentionally.

But the road had other plans—a ricocheting stone from a passing truck shatters our passenger rear window. Detour: Las Cruces, New Mexico. A breathtaking place to reset, but no easy fix. Hilux parts are rare here. With some effort (and a bit of magic), we get Rhino patched up and find ourselves camped among the raw beauty of Anza Borrego Desert. At White Sands, we’re reminded that this life isn’t about polished plans or perfect places—it’s about unearthing quiet contentment in returning to what grounds us, the places that make us feel most alive.
